California’s New Consumer Privacy Act and Its National Effect

The California Legislature passed a comprehensive privacy measure known as the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018. This act establishes rights for consumers relative to knowing the personal information a business collects on them, grants a right to delete their personal information, dictates whether a business can sell their personal information, and prohibits discrimination in the offering and pricing of services based on the consumer’s exercising their rights.
